The singer recently went on BBC Sounds’ Miss Me? With Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver to talk about life, when she revealed a revelation she recently had.
Having entered the limelight with Ocean Eyes when she was a young teen, Eilish has had to face a world of struggles from an early age.
From being hyper-sexualised before she was even at the age of consent, to battling troubled relationships behind closed doors, it’s been a hell of a decade for the young star.
However, it all came to the surface on her 20th birthday when she realised how totally alone she was.
Speaking to the hosts, she explained that when she looked around the table, she could only see people she had employed as all her friends joined her team.
But then her best friend quit, and it hit the singer really hard.

At that point, she understood that she didn’t really have anyone around her at all and if she was in a relationship, that person would be her only friend, even if she wasn’t sure she wanted to be with them.
Then, months ago at Coachella, she had a breakthrough and it’s heartwarming.
After suffering through a breakup with The Neighbourhood’s Jesse Rutherford last year, Eilish mentioned how she desperately tried to get back into contact with old pals and to put herself out there to make new ones.
At the time, she didn’t realise how alone and isolated she was and was on a mission to change that.
But at Coachella, it all caught up to her and she was hit by the reality that she’d done it.
The Bad Guy singer shared: “Phineas was like, ‘Billy, look how deep you’re rolling’ and I was like ‘I know’ and we get in the car and I got in the car with all these – all of my friends.”
She explained that her realising that she finally had all of these people around her was so overwhelming to her that she burst into tears and her friends held her as she cried.
At that point, she knew that she had been ‘raw-dogging life’ alone since forever and that she couldn’t do it anymore.
She needed her friends.

She said that in the car she said: “I was like ‘Guys, I have friends and I love you’.
“I was like, ‘I just I love you guys so much and it’s been so long since I’ve had friends’ and I cried and they like held me.”
The singer went on to say that she’d reached her breaking point in life alone and ‘I couldn’t go on without friends.’
She said: “Friendship is like the best part of my life.”
She also expressed gratitude to Allen for her hit Smile as she said when the song came out, she felt like she just wanted to have friends and relate to the lyrics about having close people.
The lines said: “But with a little help from my friends/I found the light in the tunnel at the end”
Maybe now she can sing those lines and mean it.
