Nicole Kidman’s newest murder mystery series has been branded ‘inappropriate’ and ‘perverted’ by the cast.
Adapted from the 2018 novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand, the limited series explores how a dream wedding turns into a murder before the bride and groom are even able to walk down the aisle.

Available to watch now on Netflix, the six-part series follows the story of Amelia Sacks, who is preparing to marry into the wealthy and prominent Winbury family. Ahead of her 4 July nuptials Amelia is invited to stay with the family at their home in the upscale Nantucket for your typical ‘meet-and-greet’ with the in-laws.
However when a body washes up on the beach, the trip begins to take a darker turn.
The series has an all-star cast, with Eve Hewson playing the role of bride-to-be Amelia, while Kidman stars as famous novelist and Amelia’s disapproving mother-in-law Greer Garrison Winbury. Liev Schreiber plays her husband Tag, while Billy Howle plays Amelia’s future husband Benji and Dakota Fanning is Abby Winbury.
Meghann Fahy, Ishaan Khattar, Jack Reynor, Sam Nivola and Isabelle Adjani also star in the series, called The Perfect Couple.

The trailer certainly does a good job of setting up the Winbury’s as the show’s primary antagonists, with the family being described as ‘kill someone and get away with it rich‘ in one scene.
The Perfect Couple’s cast have also been hyping up the show, with Kidman calling the cast an ‘amazing ensemble’ during an interview at a London premiere, as per The Express.
Meanwhile Schreiber teased plenty of twists in the series, saying: “There is a really healthy dose of perversity.
“Some of the most inappropriate and wonderful choices that I’ve ever seen a director make.”
Meanwhile, critic reactions have so far been mixed for the series, with The Perfect Couple currently having a score of 60 percent on review-aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.
“It’s almost impossible to resist bingeing the entirety of this classy detective drama set around a posh wedding in Nantucket. It’s a glorious, perfectly paced delight,” wrote The Guardian in their review, while The Telegraph called the show ‘top-notch trash’ in their three-star review.

“The Perfect Couple is out now on Netflix and I haven’t enjoyed a limited series like this in a minute. This is what Big Little Lies S2 should have been like!!!! Such a fun watch,” one viewer on X.
Viewers also heaped praise on the A-list cast, with one writing: “I have never been a fan of Nicole Kidman. But she is superb in The Perfect Couple. Kidman’s brittle demeanour and blank beauty are brilliantly used.”
Another added: “The Perfect Couple has such a good cast like it sold me within the first minute.”
