Having lost their father Lee (played by John Krasinski), the family—mother Evelyn (Emily Blunt), her children Regan (Millicent Simmonds), Marcus (Noah Jupe), and their newborn—are forced to venture into the outside world in search of safety.
The film delves deeper into the post-apocalyptic landscape, where the creatures, who hunt by sound, continue to terrorize what’s left of humanity. Regan, now armed with the knowledge of how to combat the creatures, leads her family on a perilous journey.
Along the way, they encounter new survivors, including the mysterious Emmett (Cillian Murphy), who becomes a pivotal figure in their quest for refuge. But the new alliances come with their own dangers, and the family quickly realizes that both the creatures and other humans are threats in this desolate, hostile world.
